News from the Library

Since June 8th, the Abbeville Memorial Library has been open and operating with Covid-19 policies. Books, DVDs, audiobooks, and magazines are available to checkout. These items and any other returns need to be placed on the table just inside the front door. We currently still offer copying, faxing, document emailing, and have a notary on staff. We have three public-use computers available, and they are restricted to one hour of use at a time.
The State of Alabama issued a mandate that masks be worn when inside a building with people, and we ask that you comply with this mandate. Upon entering the library, please use our hand sanitizing station at the front door. The signs on our front doors remind everyone to observe the six-foot social distancing guidelines, and we have included signs on the floor to help guide the flow of traffic. There are also signs on the entrance and exit doors to instruct you on which one to use for entrance and exit.
We offer curbside service for patrons who do not wish to visit the library in person. To use this service, visit our website at https://www.abbevillelibrary.org/ and check out the online catalog, choose the items you would like, and call the library at 334-585-2818 with your wishlist. We will happily select all the available items and place them in a bag. Call us when you arrive to pick up your items, and we will bring them to you.
We also offer an extensive selection of ebooks online at https://camellia.overdrive.com/. You will need your full eight-digit library card number to access this. If you do not have your number call us at the library, and we will be happy to assist.

Our Summer Reading Program was conducted online. We thank all of you who watched the entertainers, and we hope you all enjoyed their virtual shows. A special thank you to WRCD, who provided us with a grant to cover the costs. Already plans are well on the way for next year’s programs, and we have some new entertainers booked. We are looking forward to that.
We are glad that you visit our library and we are happy to see every visitor! Stay safe and healthy and remember that all precautions are to protect not just yourself but our entire community!
